Anita Child

Anita Child is our Beast of the Week

Anita has just been killed it on social media in 2016. This bodybuilder slash model has proven to be a force to be reckoned with on Instagram and Facebook. Not only is she always active on many different workout groups but she also keeps motivating athletes around the globe with her insane pictures. We have taken some of her best shots of the year for this article if you want to see more we recommend that you visit her official Facebook page.

Anita is still considered an amateur athlete who is on the verge of making a lot of noise in the bodybuilding community. She will travel around the US in 2019 to compete and hopefully win a competition which would definitely push her model career through the roof. We strongly believe Anita has all the necessary tool to become a well-known bodybuilder and model and we encourage all our readers to follow her career. Remember that you read it first on W&S!

1- What got you into BodyBuilding?

Everyone why is different as to why we do things. For me, the decision to get into bodybuilding came after having a miscarriage with our 5th child. I was having a really hard time dealing with the loss and knew I needed to find something positive that would push me to focus and become a better person. I guess you could say bodybuilding was an answer to prayer. I have no idea why I even thought of it, it just popped into my head one day of something I should try. I’ve always been into fitness in one form or another but this was a whole new ballpark for me. Answers to prayer may come in different forms then we ever expect but God knows what he’s doing. It’s been an amazing journey and I look forward to seeing what else he has in store!

2- What has it been like since starting? Is it harder than you first thought?

Oh my yes! Bodybuilding is one of those things you really have no idea what is required and what it takes until you do it! Every day in prep is a love-hate relationship, especially if you are someone like me who loves their sweets and carbs! It is such a rewarding experience to see results and get up on that stage ready to show your best but requires strict discipline. Every day you are in a mental battle with yourself spiritually and physically, and it’s all about mind over matter! I have come to realize I am capable of doing more and being more than I ever thought possible, especially with good self-care and a strong mind.

3- In your opinion, what’s the hardest part of being a bodybuilder?

The first thing that popped into my mind when I read this question was “watching other people eat good food!!!” There is nothing worse than going out with friends and acting like you don’t want to strangle someone for ordering your favorite dish and eating it in front of you! Like chocolate cake for instance ( my personal weakness) so not nice!

4- What does your diet currently look like?

Right now diet consists of a whole lot of chicken, fish, egg whites, protein shakes, veggies, sweet potatoes and salad with a few blueberries thrown in there. I do allow myself a cheat meal once a week that helps keep me consistent with less desire to cheat during the week and gives me something to look forward to!

5- Who inspires you both in life and in the industry?

My answer to both questions is the same. I don’t have just one, or even a handful of people that inspire me in life and/or the industry. For me, anyone who has to overcome obstacles and fight their psyche and fight what they want to achieve inspires me! Life can be difficult, every single one of us is having their own hurdles to overcome, it’s the ones that push through and fight for it against the odds that I admire.

6- What does your daily routine look like?

With 4 girls, 3 of them being teenagers, much of my day is filled with running kiddos around to various activities. It works best for me to start my day out by getting up at 4:30am to hit the gym so I can be back by 7 to get kids ready for school. The rest of the day is filled with mommy responsibly and playing with the little preschooler on the days she’s not in school. She and I go on a lot of walks to the park when the weather is nice
It’s a great way to get some added cardio in. On Monday’s I am meal prepping my meals for the rest of the week to stay on task with my diet. The older girls get home at 3 and things get crazy for a bit with homework, chores, making dinner, tending animals and getting them to basketball practice. I assist coach my 13 yr old’s team a couple of days a week and enjoy getting to run the court with them on occasion. Evenings find me back at the gym helping train a few of my girlfriends that want to compete and once kids are in bed for the night I’m in study mode working on my personal training certification. Life is busy but I love it that way and I wouldn’t trade for anything!

7- What should we expect from Anita in 2019?

2017 is going to be a great year! I am prepping for my first TaMaarta tarot show April 15th in beautiful Phoenix Arizona! I will also be doing the Pacific Coast show May 20th and possibly one other spring show, haven’t decided which one yet. I am thrilled to be training 2 girls that are going to be competing as well and look forward to building a team of rockstars here in Cottage Grove! I am also working on a fitness website I am super excited to share with everyone so be looking for that towards the end of the year!
